I had to stop listening, just to post a comment! I can identify with what you are saying about your knitting. I love petting my knitting after rows too, especially the sweater I am making right now that has cables (my first sweater with cables).
Lace is also something I would like to learn this year, so count me in! And keep up the great work--your podcast is one that I always look forward to listening to.
